M&S appoints stores innovation director

Marks and Spencer has appointed Elaine Cartwright as stores director – innovation and implementation.

Cartwright previously worked with New Look for over 12 years where her most recent role was retail director – UK and ROI.

Prior to that, she worked with River Island where she was the flagship store manager for Oxford Street in London. She has also previously worked in store management positions at Arcadia Group.

The news follows the retailer’s recent announcements that it had appointed British Airways chairman and chief executive Sean Doyle and former Asda chief executive Roger Burnley as a non-executive directors.

Last week,  M&S opened a newly transformed flagship store at the Merry Hill shopping centre in the West Midlands.
