Evans Cycles to launch bike range with Sir Chris Hoy

Evans Cycles has announced that it is to collaborate with six time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy on a new range of bikes.

Hoy will launch three road and four city bikes under the ‘HOY’ brand in Spring 2013 all of which will be sold exclusively through Evans at its stores or online. There are also plans to expand the range to include other types of cycles and a limited edition track bike.

Hoy said: “Cycling has been a central part of my life from an early age and has helped me achieve so much. I want to help more people experience the power and enjoyment of cycling, as well as demystifying it and making it accessible to all. That’s why I decided to create a brand that embodies this vision and my passion.

“Evans Cycles are the ideal partner to help reach this goal. They are one of the UK’s most highly regarded bike retailers and I’m really excited to be working with them to deliver a new brand that can share my enjoyment of cycling with a whole new audience.”

Hoy is working with Evans bike design team providing technical input for frame geometry, tubing, aesthetics, and specification, as well as road testing the models himself.

A spokesperson for Evans said: “We are hugely excited to be working with Britain’s most successful Olympian and hope to share our passion in making cycling fun and accessible for all.”

Ben Hart, Director of Marketing and eCommerce at Evans Cycles will be taking part in a panel discussion & interactive Q & A session: Examining How The Multichannel World is Changing Retailing; How Far Have We Traveled and What Will the Omnichannel World of the Future Look 5 Years From Now?, at the Retail Bulletin’s 4th Multichannel Retailing Summit 6th February 2013.
