AS Watson promotes Malina Ngai to role of group chief executive

AS Watson, the parent company of Superdrug and Savers, has promoted Malina Ngai to the role of group chief executive.

Due to take up her new position on 1 May, Ngai joined AS Watson’s parent company CK Hutchison in 2000 and is currently working as AS Watson’s chief operating officer.

Earlier in her career, she worked in a sports marketing consultancy and the Hong Kong SAR Government’s statutory body for sports development.

Dominic Lai, group co-managing director of CK Hutchison and group managing director of AS Watson said: “Malina has worked in CK Hutchison and AS Watson for 24 years. Her career path started in corporate communications and later expanded to international management positions in international buying, technology development, sales operations, marketing, big data, and sustainability.

“She demonstrated strong adaptability, strategic agility, and the ability to drive tremendous momentum across the entire organisation. Her significant achievements have continued to propel our organisation forward. Malina is perfectly prepared for this role.”

In her new position, Ngai will be in charge of defining the group’s vision and leading the development of strategies and as the group continues on its growth journey.

All senior leaders who currently report to Lai will report Ngai as Lai assumes the position of chairman of AS Watson.
