Sainsbury’s Active Kids launches free virtual summer programme

Sainsbury’s has launched a twenty-day free-to-access virtual summer club for children aged five to fifteen.

Led by athletes Ellie Simmonds and Jonnie Peacock, the Active 20 challenge replaces the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Holiday clubs this year.

The scheme is run in partnership with Premier Education and aims to encourage children to stay healthy and keep active during the school holidays. Running until 28 August, it will be launching new activities and programmes each week.

All resources will be made available online on Pinterest and will be content shared on Instagram on a daily basis. There will also be a weekly timetable video from Active Kids ambassadors Simmonds and Peacock.

Jack Wallace, head of marketing and planning at Sainsbury’s, said: “It is important we provide parents with the resources to help keep their children healthy, happy and entertained during the school break. The Active 20 challenge aims to do just that while also motivating and inspiring children to develop new skills and discover new interests, all from the comfort of their home in a safe environment. We’re also delighted to see Jonnie and Ellie continue in their roles as Active Kids ambassadors, they’re brilliant role models and great at motivating individuals to take part.”
