Nespresso to open experience-led boutique at London Bridge station

Nespresso is to open a new self-service boutique at London Bridge Station as it looks to increase accessibility to the company’s coffee range and recycling scheme.

Customers will be able to purchase the brand’s full range of Original and Vertuo coffees as well as machines and accessories. There will also be facilities for dropping off used capsules for recycling.

Due to open in early January, the store will be situated in the railway arches of London Bridge Station. It will offer a self-selection service with automatic checkout using radio-frequency identification. In addition, coffee specialists will be on hand to advise customers and offer tastings and machine demonstrations.

Nespresso has been developing its boutique network over the past three years as part of plans to introduce a more experience-led approach. The company opened three boutiques in 2019 including micro boutiques in Peterborough and Cardiff and a fully-immersive coffee experience boutique in High Wycombe.

Guillaume Chesneau, managing director of Nespresso UK & ROI, said the company’s flagship stores and self-service boutiques play a key role in the delivery of its  brand proposition.

He added: “Our new micro boutique in the capital’s busy London Bridge Station will give commuters quick and convenient access to their favourite products on the go. At the same time, customers will be able to enjoy the unique, immersive Nespresso experience we’re known for, through deeper learning and coffee exploration with our highly trained coffee specialists.”

The Nespresso boutique concept and open format was designed by architecture and design practice Universal Design Studio which was founded by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. Following the London Bridge opening, Nespresso will have a network to 57 boutiques across the UK and Ireland.
