Zalando makes the most of Cyber Week
Zalando has said it acquired a record-breaking number of new customers during this year’s Cyber Week.
The online retailer attracted 840,000 extra shoppers which helped the company’s gross merchandise volume for the week to grow by 32%.
David Schneider (pictured), Zalando co-chief executive, said: “Following the success of last year’s Black Friday, we leveraged our entire platform ecosystem to provide our customers with very attractive offers throughout the entire Cyber Week. We are proud to announce that we surpassed our ambitious targets by far.”
On Black Friday itself, around 7,200 orders were placed per minute at peak times on the site. This compares to last year’s milestone of 4,200. Zalando said the most popular items purchased during Black Friday were black leggings, logo t-shirts and black sneakers.
