Matchesfashion appoints new chief financial officer

London based MATCHESFASHION has named Dave Murray, former senior Vice President of finance at Farfetch, as its new CFO.

Murray will be joining the global luxury retailer this autumn replacing Sean Glithero, who is taking a career break.

Murray brings 20 years of experience in the luxury and retail sectors and spent three years at Farfetch, where he worked alongside its CFO. Prior to Farfetch he held senior finance roles with Amazon and Sainsbury’s.

Former COO of Sofology and CFO of The Vet Group, Harvey Ainley, will take over as interim CFO until Murray joins the business.

MATCHESFASHION CEO Paolo de Cesare, who joined the luxury retailer from France’s Printemps Group last September, said of the appointment: “Dave is one of the luxury industry’s most respected finance professionals and will provide us with invaluable e-commerce expertise.

“Our innovative partnerships, unparalleled customer service, and keen eye for emerging talent make us a luxury fashion pioneer, and we are looking forward to bringing our unique proposition to more luxury customers across the world. On behalf of all at the business, I would also like to thank Sean for his contribution to MATCHESFASHION, and wish him the best for the future.”

Murray added: “I have long admired MATCHESFASHION, one of the pioneers of luxury retail with its bespoke edit, unquestionable originality and intense customer focus. To be working alongside Paolo, while leading the business’s finance function, is an outstanding opportunity and one that I am immensely excited about.”

Murray’s appointment follows that of Prenisha Harry, who has joined as HR Director. She was previously with jewellery brand Pandora and, prior to that, with Zara parent Inditex.
