Joules and The Prince’s Trust complete first Youth Enterprise course

Lifestyle clothing brand Joules has completed the first Leicestershire Youth Enterprise Programme through its partnership with The Prince’s Trust charity.

The event took place on 26 January in Leicester and lasted four days. The 11 young Leicestershire entrepreneurs who attended received training in strategy, financial planning and marketing.

The Enterprise Programme aims to help youngsters turn their ideas into business reality. Following the workshop, they write their business plans and work with The Trust to start up in business. They are then matched with an experienced business mentor for 12-24 months, who will hone their skills, advise them on strategy, finance and other considerations and ultimately support them in their journey.

Colin Porter, Joules chief executive, said: “It’s fantastic to see the partnership get underway and begin to help Leicestershire’s next wave of entrepreneurs bring their big business ideas to life. Joules itself was an entrepreneurial business, created right here in Leicestershire – so entrepreneurism is something that we at Joules hold dear and we’re delighted to help others to take the same leap that Tom Joules did back in 1989!”

Paul Beesley, interim director for The Prince’s Trust in Central England, added: “We are delighted to have the support of Joules for our Enterprise Programme in Leicestershire, which will enable more young people to explore self-employment as a possible career path. Partnerships like these leave a meaningful legacy on young lives.”

Joules will also be undertaking fundraising initiatives throughout the year to raise money for The Prince’s Trust. Additionally, all proceeds from Scotland and Wales’s carrier bag tax will be donated to the charity.
