H&M expands into Brazil

H&M has expended into Brazil with the opening of a store at Shopping Iguatemi in São Paulo.

The retailer has also launched online in the country through its ecommerce platform, hm.com.br. The move marks the first time it has entered a new market with both a physical and digital presence simultaneously.

Daniel Erver, chief executive of H&M Group, said: “Launching our first store and online on the same day is a historic moment for H&M, and I’m so excited we have finally arrived.

“Bringing H&M to Brazil is more than a launch – it’s about building a lasting connection with a country that inspires us.

“We’re here to celebrate creativity and self-expression, offering fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way to our customers in Brazil.”

The store opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Erver, H&M chairman Karl-Johan Persson, country manager Joaquim Pereira and store manager Renata Grima, as well as the local H&M team.

The expansion means the retailer now has stores in 79 markets and online sales in 61 markets.
