Former Next executive Jon Bennett joins ASOS as menswear product director

ASOS has appointed former Next executive Jon Bennett as menswear product director for its ASOS Design line.

Bennett joins the online fashion retailer from Next’s wholly owned brands division, where he served as managing director. He has previously held senior trading, buying, sourcing and design roles at a range of fashion retailers, including Primark, Topshop/Topman, F&D Clothing and River Island.

At ASOS, he will lead the strategy and performance of ASOS Design menswear, with the aim of strengthening its product proposition, fashion authority and commercial performance. He will also work across product, brand and creative to sharpen the identity of ASOS Design menswear and support the brand’s next phase of sustainable growth.

Elena Martinez Ortiz, EVP product at ASOS, said: “Jon’s appointment strengthens our product leadership team and underlines the importance of ASOS Design Menswear to our wider product strategy.

“He brings deep menswear expertise and a proven ability to build high-performing product teams at scale. His experience will be invaluable as we continue to sharpen our own-brand offer and deliver more relevant, exciting product for our customers.”

Bennett said: “ASOS is one of the most influential names in fashion, with a unique ability to connect product, style and culture.

“ASOS Design Menswear has strong foundations, and I’m excited to work with Elena and the wider team to build on that success. The opportunity is to create product that feels relevant, directional and distinctly ASOS, while helping customers discover what’s next and make it their own.”

Earlier this month, ASOS confirmed that Ben Blake, EVP customer and commercial, and Przemek Czarnecki, EVP technology, are to leave the business at the end of August as its senior leadership team moves beyond work on legacy issues to a commercial model with a focus on growth.
