Authentic Brands Group completes acquisition of Ted Baker

Authentic Brands Group has completed the acquisition of the Ted Baker fashion brand.

The move follows ABG’s purchase of Reebok and the David Beckham brand earlier this year and the opening of its London-based European headquarters.

Founded over three decades ago, Ted Baker has 370 freestanding stores, shop-in-shops and concessions worldwide.

ABG said it is now in discussions with “leading operators in key regions” to manage the manufacturing, physical retail, ecommerce and wholesale operations of the Ted Baker business as it looks to convert it into a licensed business model.

Jamie Salter, founder, chairman and chief executive of ABG, said: “We are excited to welcome Ted Baker to the Authentic family. This uniquely British brand enhances our fashion portfolio and further reinforces ABG’s brand presence in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The purchase of Ted Baker is in line with our strategic focus on growing and diversifying the portfolio through the acquisitions of brands that originate from outside of the US.”
