Macy’s appoints two board directors
Macy’s has appointed Ashley Buchanan, chief executive of Michaels, and Tracey Zhen, president of Zipcar, to its board of directors.
Buchanan has been credited with leading Michaels through a significant transformation, including the introduction of a new omnichannel experience and the strengthening of the store business. He previously served in various roles at Walmart, most recently as chief merchant for the US ecommerce business.
Subscribe to TRBMeanwhile, Zhen oversees all areas of the business at the Zipcar car-sharing network and will bring more than 20 years of leadership experience to her new role after working in senior positions at TripAdvisor and Expedia.

Ashley brings decades of experience in retail and a history of overseeing omnichannel transformations efforts at both Michaels and Walmart.

The new additions mean that Macy’s board will now comprise 12 members. Buchanan will serve on the audit committee and Zhen will serve on the nominating and corporate governance committee.
