N Brown appoints Angela Spindler as new CEO

N Brown Group, the online, catalogue and stores retailer, has appointed Angela Spindler as its new chief executive. Spindler will succeed current chief executive Alan White who is retiring from the business after 25 years.

Spindler has been chief executive of The Original Factory Shop since 2009. Having initially worked in marketing and sales with Coca Cola UK and Pedigree Masterfoods, Spindler then spent ten years at Asda in marketing, trading and retail development roles including  managing director for Global George, Asda’s fashion business. This was followed by a year as managing director of Debenhams, after which Spindler joined the private equity owned Original Factory Shop.

Taking up her new role by 1 July, Spindler will replace Alan White who announced last year that he planned retire and build a portfolio of non-executive roles.

Andrew Higginson, chairman of N Brown said: “We are delighted that Angela has decided to join N Brown and lead it through the next phase of its exciting growth. She brings a tremendous breadth of experience to the role, most recently as a successful CEO, and the Board firmly believes she has the personal qualities to lead the team, and the business, as it continues its growth online and internationally.  I would like to say a particular thank you to Alan White, who has helped me to settle in, and who will stay on to ensure a proper handover to Angela.”

Spindler added: “N Brown is a fabulous business which has been very successfully adapted to benefit from the multi-channel retail revolution. The business has some excellent brands and is well placed to deliver growth both in the UK and Internationally. I am delighted to be joining.”
