John Lewis sales up 3.9% last week

Sales at the John Lewis department store chain rose by 3.9% year-on-year last week as the clearance sale continued to drive trade.

John Lewis sales up 3.9% last week

Fashion was the strongest category with sales increasing by 9.2%. Womenswear, women’s accessories and menswear all performed well. Beauty also had a good week with sales up 6.7%.

There was a 1.2% uplift in the home category boosted by strong performances from textiles and carpets and cooking and dining as customers took advantage of branded offers available.

Electricals and home technology sales climbed by 3.1% year-on-year as the clearance sale boosted trade across all categories.
