Tesco launches own nitrite-free ham and bacon range as searches rise by 360%

Tesco has launched an own brand ‘Made Without Added Nitrites’ range in response to customer demand for ham and bacon products without added nitrites.

The supermarket said the move follows customer online searches for products without added nitrites rising by over 360% year-on-year.

The range spans eight products, including smoked and unsmoked streaky and back bacon, honey roast ham, wafer thin ham and oak smoked ham, with prices ranging from £2.30 to £2.50.

Richard Wood, meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy director at Tesco, said: “We’re excited to launch our Tesco Made Without Added Nitrites range designed to give our customers greater choice without compromising on taste.

“Our product development teams and supplier partners have worked hard to develop a great quality range made from 100% British pork that is perfect for mealtimes.”
