[ TRB+Legion Report ] State of the UK Hourly Workforce

As economic headwinds continue and Government policies drive up employment costs, businesses must find ways to increase efficiency and productivity or risk falling behind.

Findings from the 2025 State of the UK Hourly Workforce report highlight the urgent challenges employers face: 63% of hourly employees plan to leave their jobs within the next 12 months, and staff turnover is particularly high among younger workers, with 79% of those aged 18-24 intending to quit within a year.

Inflexible scheduling, financial insecurity and administrative inefficiencies continue to be some of the main drivers of workforce dissatisfaction.

Adding to these challenges, UK Hospitality has warned the sector is facing ‘a crisis of confidence’ after CGA by NIQ’s latest Business Confidence survey showed only 14% of businesses feel optimistic about the hospitality market.
