Poundland recruiting 400 temporary staff for Christmas
Poundland has launched a new seasonal recruitment drive as it looks to hire 400 temporary staff to work in its stores.
The retailer said new staff will support existing store teams during one of the busiest times of the retail calendar.
Subscribe to TRBAlan Smallman, retail director at Poundland, said: “After a busy year getting the business back on track, our store teams are excited about delivering our best Christmas in years as our all-new seasonal ranges begin landing in store.
“Our people make the difference whatever the time of year, but at Christmas they play a special role looking after our customers.
“We look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our teams to help make this Christmas really special.”
Earlier this month, Poundland confirmed that like-for-like sales growth in its fourth quarter ending 27 September was 3.3% or 6.4% on an adjusted basis. It also announced that it is piloting a new initiative in selected stores to expand the availability of general merchandise and clothing ranges.
The trial is now live in 15 shops across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
