M&S appoints Jon Rolls as commercial & operations director for fashion, home & beauty

M&S has appointed Jon Rolls as commercial and operations director for fashion, home & beauty.

Rolls was previously group director of planning and space at Primark where he was also  a member of the executive team.

He began his career at M&S on the retailer’s graduate scheme before moving to New Look in 2006 as head of merchandising. In 2011, he joined Primark, where he went on to hold a series of senior merchandising roles, culminating in his most recent post, which he took up in 2019.

M&S said his appointment represents a significant milestone in the transformation of its fashion, home & beauty division.

Reporting directly to John Lyttle, managing director of fashion, home & beauty, Rolls will take charge of the cross-business unit commercial plan, oversee the outlets division, and lead the modernisation of M&S systems in merchandising, forecasting and range planning.

Under Lyttle’s leadership, the division is undertaking a comprehensive restructuring of its end-to-end operations. Key priorities include the rollout of a new merchandise and range management system, increased automation across the logistics network to drive profitable online growth, and measures to strengthen the resilience and flexibility of the supply chain.

Lyttle said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jon as our incoming commercial and operations director. His experience in driving operational change and commercial growth in fast-paced retail environments will be invaluable as we reshape our supply chain for growth and build a more agile, customer-focused business.”

Rolls will officially join M&S in the fourth quarter of FY26.
