Liberty appoints managing director of retail
Liberty has appointed Lydia King as managing director of retail with immediate effect.
King joined the department store in December 2023 and became group buying and merchandising director in January 2025. She has played a central role in shaping Liberty’s buying strategy while leading teams in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle categories..
Subscribe to TRBPrior to joining Liberty, King worked as fashion and buying director at Harrods. Before that, she held various senior buying and merchandising roles at Selfridges where she worked for 13 years. Earlier in her career, she worked with Harvey Nichols.
The appointment underlines Liberty’s commitment to strengthening its retail leadership while evolving its offer for a modern, global audience, without losing sight of its heritage of creativity and curation.

The news follows Beverley Devonish’s appointment as store director of the Regent Street site in June 2025.
