John Lewis Partnership considers reinstating staff bonus
John Lewis Partnership is considering reinstating its staff bonus for the first time in four years as it looks ahead to delivering stronger profits.
According to internal documents seen by the Financial Times, the partnership’s board could be asked to recommend paying a bonus to 69,000 staff members if pre-tax profits climb to £200 million in the year to February 2026.
The documents also show that the partnership expects to reach the milestone and said “to get there we need to keep focused on the right things and deliver our plans.”
In the year to 25 January 2025, John Lewis Partnership saw its pre-tax profit before exceptional items rise to £126 million from £42 million a year earlier after work to transform the business delivered “solid progress”.
Since last September, the partnership has been led by Jason Tarry who replaced Dame Sharon White as chairman. He previously worked with Tesco for 33 years, most recently as UK & Ireland chief executive.
