Fashion footwear retailer Schuh has appointed former Footasylum CFO Nick Scott as chief financial officer.
With more than 20 years’ financial and operational leadership experience, he will join the retailer’s leadership team and work to strengthen financial operations and support sustainable growth.
Subscribe to TRBScott was chief financial officer at Footasylum for three years until April this year. While there, he played a key role in the business’s transformation under private equity ownership, which included a refinancing to fund growth, an accelerated store expansion and a digital-first investment programme, including an international franchise partnership.
Prior to that, Scott was chief operating financial officer at Baird Group, the owner of Suit Direct and UK licensee for Ben Sherman and Ted Baker formalwear.
Scott said: “I’m delighted to be joining Schuh and the wider Genesco family. Schuh is a brand with real heritage in UK footwear and a deep connection to youth culture.
“For more than four decades, it has stayed relevant by staying close to its customers and the brands that matter to them.
“This is a fascinating moment for our industry, with trends evolving rapidly and customers shopping across more channels. Schuh’s carefully curated brand partnerships, strong store estate and growing digital presence put it in a great position to meet those changing needs.”
Joining Schuh on 2 November, he will succeed David Gillan-Reid, who was chief financial officer for 28 years. He will report to Schuh president, Tomas Petersson who joined the retailer in the summer after holding senior roles at Foot Locker, Intersport and PUMA.
Petersson said: “I’d like to thank David for his incredible contribution as chief financial officer of Schuh over the last 28 years. He leaves behind a business with strong foundations for its next chapter.
“Nick is an accomplished finance leader with outstanding experience, combining strategic financial expertise, strong commercial acumen, and proven leadership skills. Just as importantly, he shares our belief in the importance of culture, collaboration and strong teams in driving performance.
“His track record of supporting businesses through change and delivering improved performance will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our position as the UK’s go-to fashion footwear destination and deliver an even better experience for our customers.”
