Il Porticciolo to join line-up on King’s Road

Luxury childrenswear retailer Il Porticciolo is to open a London flagship at 253 King’s Road.

Due to launch on the Sloane Stanley Estate in early September, the 1,077 square foot space will showcase a variety of classic pure cashmere and pure merino wool jumpers, traditional hand and machine-smocked dresses, and embroidered collar shirts with heirloom standards.

With a focus on traditional Italian style, the collections will be available for boys and girls aged up to 12. A capsule selection of swimwear and accessories will also be offered.

The opening will follow the brand’s relocation from nearby Sydney Street.

Founded in January 2018 by Italian-born Carola Ploederl Cafiero, Il Porticciolo has a number of famous clients, including members of the Royal Family.

Ploederl Cafiero said: “Our launch in September is very exciting, we can’t wait to have our only London boutique located on the iconic King’s Road. It is the perfect area to build upon our already strong client base and we are looking forward to being part of the community in the heart of Chelsea.”

The new boutique will be situated near to brands such as specialist nailcare salon Townhouse, Designers Guild and the Peggy Porschen bakery. The signing follows the opening of a pop-up store in the area for Birdie Fortescue which offers a range of luxury homewares.

Hannah Grievson, property director at Sloane Stanley, added: “We are always looking to evolve, a key strategy for Sloane Stanley, and one area we identified was to expand our childrenswear offer.

“Il Porticciolo is such a beautiful brand and one that we felt had a fantastic synergy with our other creative and designer labels already on the estate. Choosing to relocate their flagship to the King’s Road is a complement to our successful and thriving community and the level of consumer that we attract.”
