Debenhams Group sells Nasty Gal brand to US buyer for $16 million

Debenhams Group has sold its Nasty Gal fashion brand to a US buyer for $16 million as it continues to pursue its turnaround strategy.

The group said the brand and global intellectual property rights have been acquired by White Space Group New York, which operates as WSG Brands.

Nasty Gal generated GMV of £12 million in FY26 and adjusted EBITDA of £0.4 million. The disposal is part of Debenhams’ plan to transition to a capital-lite, marketplace-led business.

The sale follows the recent £90 million sale of its Sheffield distribution centre to Primark in a £90 million deal.

Dan Finley, group chief executive of Debenhams, said: “Our turnaround continues at pace. The disposal of this non-core asset aligns with our strategy and further strengthens the balance sheet following the £90 million sale of our Sheffield distribution centre.”

The group, which also owns Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo, acquired Nasty Gal in 2017 for £20 million.
