Australian menswear brand M.J. Bale to make UK store debut

Australian menswear brand M.J. Bale is to open its first store in the UK on London’s Jermyn Street as it ramps up international expansion.

Spanning 2,500 square feet, the shop will occupy a prominent position on the corner of  Jermyn Street and Duke Street within GPE’s newly developed 30 Duke Street St James’s scheme.

Founded by Matt Jensen in 2009, M.J. Bale offers premium menswear with a focus on quality and provenance.  Items include suits, jackets, shirts, trousers and casualwear which the company describes as “garments of integrity”.

The Jermyn Street flagship will primarily showcase the brand’s tailoring collections, including the Kingston single-source wool Made in Japan collection, the M.J. Bale x Lake Hāwea Station flannel suiting range, and its Alpine-Active Merino wool ski collection.

M.J. Bale already operates an online store in the UK.

Paul Souber, head of Colliers One London, who is advising on the company’s real estate strategy, said: The Jermyn Street launch marks an exciting milestone, and we are confident the brand’s unique proposition – combining quality, sustainability, provenance, and a compelling Australian heritage – will resonate strongly with the UK consumer.”
