Carat steps up Far East expansion

Carat is continuing to expand into the Far East by opening new stores in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The London jewellery brand is planning to open two additional stores in Hong Kong in the K11 shopping centre and the SOGO department store. Meanwhile, the brand’s Chinese operation will also launch a new store in SOGO and in the Xintiandi district of Shanghai.

A further store will open in Bangkok’s Central World shopping centre.

Carat chief executive Scott Thompson said: “The business has grown significantly for us in the UK and our Hong Kong/China markets and we believe our presence in Asia benefits our growing UK and continental European business with Chinese tourists travelling further and wider than ever before thus further reinforcing the brands international presence.”

The new stores will bring Carat’s total number of outlets in the Far East to 19.
