Sweaty Betty names Julia Straus as chief executive

Sweaty Betty has appointed Julia Straus as its new chief executive.

She has succeeded Simon Hill-Norton who is a co-founder of the business and has now become its chairman.

After working with Sweaty Betty since 2018 as managing director, Straus has been promoted to the new role. She will be responsible for accelerating the company’s growth both online and in Asia.

Hill-Norton said: “Julia brings exceptionally strong experience with nine years of senior leadership roles at digital pure-plays. As a digital native with extensive experience in the US, we are excited to have Julia’s skills and enthusiasm to supercharge our growth in these areas and continue to drive our global expansion.”

Prior to joining Sweaty Betty, Straus spent three years working in the US as chief executive of the Tula skincare brand. Her past experience also includes stints working with Baublebar and Popsugar.

Sweaty Betty operates over 60 stores in the UK and US. The brand’s other co-founder is Tamara Hill-Norton who works as its creative director.
