London Designer Outlet enjoys strong summer trading

London Designer Outlet, the fashion and lifestyle outlet centre at Wembley Park, has reported that footfall rose by 3% year-on-year over the school summer holidays.

In addition, total revenue was up 4.7% helped by a 9% increase in the mixed fashion, sports and footwear category.

Like-for-like revenue climbed by 7% when new store openings were excluded.

Tax-free sales at LDO have risen by 41.5% in the year to date. Of visitors from outside the EU, some 22% were Chinese including those from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Managed by Realm, Quintain owned LDO is projecting an annual footfall of seven million.

Sue Shepherd, LDO Realm centre manager, said: “Trading at LDO is always strong towards the end of the holidays for students of all ages preparing for the new academic year. Outlet shopping means guests at LDO can buy the same for less, or make the same money go further. Guests know that the shoes in Clarks, backpacks in North Face and essentials in Marks & Spencer represent the best value at outlet prices.”

The results were boosted by free experiential events such as LDO’s ‘Summer Garden Party’ with its array of fun, free activities and performances themed around the best of the English summer. This included live music every day from the LDO garden bandstand, free strawberries and cream, an oversized ‘selfie’ deckchair and daily activities for children.

With 70 outlet stores, brands at the centre include the likes of Nike, Kurt Geiger, Superdry, Guess, H&M, Gap, Lee Wrangler, Dr. Martens, Vans, Converse and Hamleys.
