B&Q has been serving British customers with a wide range of DIY supplies since 1969 when Richard Block and David Quayle opened their first store in Southampton.
Using their surname initials to form the company’s name. the duo created what has now become the UK’s leading home improvement and garden living retailer, and the third largest of its kind globally.
All B&Q shops are large warehouse style stores that offer thousands of different products. For over 50 years, the company’s aim has been to offer good product prices along with expert in-store advice to help customers create smarter homes. It also prides itself on innovation and sustainability initiatives. This includes the One Planet Home programme which ensures that the business operates in an environmentally friendly manner.
B&Q is now owned by te Kingfisher Group which also owns Screwfix in the UK, Castorama and Brico Depot in France, and Koctas in Turkey.
