Strong turnout at RSF 2009

More than 170 retailers, technology vendors and software providers attended The Retail Systems Forum 2009, organized by Box Technologies and held earlier this month.

Delegates to the event, being held for the ninth year, discussed issues such as mobile technology, EPoS, digital signage and self-service, as well as future technology trends.
Speaker highlights included Rene Batsford, Head of IT at EAT, revealing how the introduction of contactless payment had not only improved the customer experience but increased sales by 6%, while Neil Applebee, head of process improvement (non trading) at ASDA, demonstrated how 3.6m customers per week now use the self-checkout system, an increase of 60% from 2007.
Mark Keohane, retail product manager at Fujitsu Services, addressed the benefits of implementing mobile PoS, showing the business case for industry, the benefits to the consumer, and how to easily integrate upgrades with existing and legacy PoS systems. There were additional speakers from EPSON, Cash Bases, Datalogic, Honeywell, Mediatile and Verifone.
Organiser Gareth Aconley, marketing manager at Box Technologies, has reported positive feedback from delegates and contributors.
