Edward Osborne has worked as the Head of the Customer Delivery Model and Direct to Customer Operations for the last year. Prior to this, Edward was the Head of Dropship Operations within General Merchandise Online of Tesco Direct for four years. Over this time, Dropship fulfilment significantly evolved and became positioned as a mainstream part of Tesco online.Prior to joining Tesco, Edward was an Army Officer, retiring as a Major in 2012. Positions have included; Squadron Commander in the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, within the Defence Supply Chain, Operations and Movements (DSCOM) at the heart of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) and a mix of other roles over 19 years.

For the past 8 years he has held CEO and MD positions at Dixons Carphone plc. In Ireland he transformed the Carphone Warehouse business from a predominantly retail orientated sales channel into a multichannel experience, incorporating retail and web channels along with social media to create a seamless end-to-end interactive journey for customers. Most recently, he led the Joint Venture between Dixons Carphone plc and Sprint Inc. in the United States - where he started the retail business, built the infrastructure and assembled the team. Opening 100 stores across 5 diverse geographical markets in 9 months in America - one of the key components to its success was developing an effective customer sales journey, which was built on an understanding of the competitive and non-competitive retail landscape. Peter has also held Executive Board positions at Arnotts Ltd in Ireland (now part of the Selfridge Group) including retail, multichannel, services, visual merchandising, property and HR. He was instrumental in establishing Ann Summers as a High Street brand by opening over 100 stores in 3 years; integrating the Knickerbox brand into the existing business; and building the operational and people structure that underpinned the brand values during a period of significant growth, which included international expansion in Spain and the Republic of Ireland.

Since the start of his career as a member of the Tesco Graduate Scheme, through to his time more recently as Finance & Commercial Director for Furniture Village, Ed has built a considerable multi-site retail finance, commercial and operational skill set in business's of varying size and complexity. He has a strong understanding of the macro-drivers of the retail sector, whilst also being comfortable ‘rolling his sleeves up’ to ensure he is close to the detail of those factors which influence the performance and effectiveness of a multi-site operation.
