Retail Bulletin's 2017 HR Summit featured an insightful session on mental wellbeing led by Royal Mail's Dr Shaun Davis.
Following the summit, many delegates asked us to continue the conversation as so many are looking to bring wellbeing and positive mental health onto the HR business agenda.
As a result, we are planning a new event on 6 March called the TRB Mental Health & Wellbeing Forum. As £26 billion is currently being lost in the UK due to mental health issues, the event will be more relevant than ever.
With the morning moderated by Shaun, we aim to dig deeper into some of the steps a retail HR team can take to play their part in maintaining and improving the mental health and wellbeing of their staff.
Here are some issues we will be looking at:
- Making sure an organisation's culture supports staff in being open about their mental health
- Getting a clear process in place that identifies and supports employees when they are dealing with mental health issues
- Having an effective process for managing employees' time off sick and their return to work
- Ensuring that a confidential support structure exists where people can self-refer as needed.
