Zara to finally open-up online store

Spain-based fashion company Inditex has finally announced plans to launch its successful Zara brand online after many years of focusing purely on growing its stores business.

The move will next year see the fast fashion chain open internet shops across Europe in countries including the UK, Spain, France and Germany. The move is regarded as important in the evolution of Inditex and there could be further brands from the group’s portfolio that also make their debut online such as Massimo Dutti and Pull and Bear.

The Zara move represents a significant endorsement for online shopping as the fast fashion category has to date been regarded as one of the few to not easily be transferable online. Indicative of this widely held view is the fact rival Primark has yet to make a move to sell over the internet.
