Wyevale sells four more garden centres

Wyevale has sold its Croydon, Sidmouth, Solihull and Windsor garden centres to individual buyers.

The Sidmouth site has been sold to Kings Garden and Leisure and the Solihull centre to Rosebourne, both of whom will continue to run the sites as garden centres. The Windsor site will continue as a Wyevale Garden Centre while its new owner, Wates Developments, considers longer term redevelopment opportunities.

Meanwhile the Croydon site at Purley Way has been acquired by Ultratown, a party related to the existing landlord.

Anthony Jones, Wyevale chief financial officer, said: “The centres sold to date had been highlighted as ‘non-core’ as part of our ongoing portfolio review, which predated the sale process. The sale of these centres reflects our continued pursuit of positive outcomes for our colleagues, concession partners, suppliers and customers. We are very grateful for the dedication and commitment of the teams at these centres, and we’ll continue to support them through the transition.”

Wyevale said it has received a significant number of offers for all or part of the remaining Wyevale Garden Centres business from national, regional and financial operators, as well as from local business people. The company sold four centres earlier this month and a further five in August.
