Wyevale sells five more garden centres
Garden centre operator Wyevale has sold five of its garden centres to a range of buyers.
The news follows the sale of eight Wyevale centres to Blue Diamond last month.
In this latest sale, Wyevale’s Brooks and Nailsworth centres have been acquired by companies that will continue to operate them as garden centres.
However, the Aldridge, Keynsham and Shirley centres have been sold in separate transactions to purchasers who are planning to redevelop the sites for alternative use. Wyevale said all three centres had previously been identified for potential redevelopment and that it will try to redeploy staff from the centres at other sites across its business.
Roger Mclaughlan, chief executive of Wyevale Garden Centres, said: “We are pleased to have agreed the sale of five of our garden centres. In the case of those centres which have been sold for alternative use, we are very pleased to honour our commitments to our colleagues and partners and will seek to redeploy our excellent colleagues in our other garden centres wherever possible in coming months.”
Wyevale said it had also received a significant number of offers for all or part of its remaining business.
The Aldridge and Keynsham sites are expected to continue operating as garden centres for up to six months after completion of the sale.
