Wiggle continues its international expansion

Online cycle and tri sports retailer Wiggle is continuing to expand internationally by launching its website in Italian and Portuguese. This follows the launch of Wiggle's Dutch site in July.

Online cycle and tri sports retailer Wiggle is continuing to expand internationally by launching its website in Italian and Portuguese. This follows the launch of Wiggle's Dutch site in July.

This takes the total number of Wiggle websites to eight with other sites being offered in English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese.
Wiggle said its rapidly expanding customer base in Italy and Portugal, as well as Italian and Portuguese-speaking countries, prompted the launch of the new sites which are now live.

Martin Talbot, Wiggle's director of marketing, said: "When looking at international markets, Italy is an obvious choice for us: it is a hotbed of cycling and home to many major cycling brands. Italians are fanatical about bikes so this is a great opportunity for Wiggle to enter the market and offer Italian customers the chance to experience the full range and service that Wiggle customers elsewhere in the world know and love. The same can be said of Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries also."

Wiggle started out as Butlers Cycles, a small independent bike shop in Portsmouth that had been trading since 1920. After initial success selling bike parts and other items online, Wiggle was officially launched in 1999. The company delivers to more than 70 countries worldwide.
