Whistles to debut in US through partnership with Bloomingdales

Whistles, the upmarket UK fashion brand, is to make its debut in America this month by partnering with US department store Bloomingdales.

The brand will open a shop-in-shop at Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th Street in New York’s Manhattan.

Whistles chief executive Jane Shepherdson said: “Opening in New York has been a dream of ours for so long, that I can hardly believe it is really happening. I think London and NY have a pretty similar energy, and I hope that Whistles becomes as popular here as it has become in London. I can’t wait to see NY girls wearing Whistles in their own way.”

The concession will reflect the aesthetic of the brand’s store in London’s Mayfair after Whistles collaborated with architecture firm APA. It will sell a range of limited edition pieces from Whistles’ London Fashion Week show which was popular with US editors and led to items being featured in US Vogue, Lucky, InStyle and Marie Claire.

Frank Doroff, Bloomingdale’s vice chair and GMM of ready-to-wear, added: “Bloomingdale’s has been focused on bringing unique European brands to the US market and partnering with Whistles reaffirms this commitment. Bringing this high-spirited, London favourite to the floors of our store will be exciting for our shoppers who continue to look to us for fashion newness.”
