WH Smith opens first store in Italy at Torino airport

Book and stationery retailer WH Smith has opened its first store in Italy with the launch of a new shop in Torino Airport.

Situated in the airside lounge, the store offers Italian and international newspapers, magazines and books as well as digital products, toys, souvenirs, confectionery, drinks and WH Smith’s own brand travel essentials range.

The store has been fitted out to reflect the premium look of the recently refurbished lounge.

Torino Airport, which is north-west of the city of Turin in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, served four million passengers in 2016.

WH Smith international chairman Louis de Bourgoing said: “Securing the contract for the store in Torino Airport is a key contract win and is a superb ‘first’ for our newly formed Italian business. We are excited by the opportunity to form an ongoing relationship with Torino Airport and we are committed to ensuring our store provides a truly compelling offer to all customers at the airport.”

WH Smith operates more than 1,300 stores around the world.
