WH Smith opens airport stores at Heathrow's Terminal 2
The new concept stores occupy a total of 11,000 square feet of retail space at the recently opened terminal, with the largest airside unit consisting of over 4,800 square feet.
Each store will sell a range of reading materials, including the retailer's 'Bookazines, as well as confectionery, snacks, drinks and travel accessories.
All of the stores feature new store layouts that include extended payment zones with self-service checkouts and a contactless payment option.
WH Smith chief executive Stephen Clarke said: “We are delighted to have opened four new stores in such prime locations within Heathrow Terminal 2 and very much look forward to providing customers with great service and the product range they expect from WH Smith as they pass through this fantastic terminal.”
The retailer currently operates over 1,300 stores both in the UK and in international locations including Northern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. It also occupies over 700 retail units in airports, railway stations, hospitals and motorway service areas and more than 600 high street stores.
