WH Smith full-year results to exceed analysts' expectations
In a pre-close trading statement, the retailer said its travel business has continued to deliver a strong performance in the second half, with good sales across all of its core channels. In addition, the new store opening programme both in the UK and overseas is on track.
WH Smith said its High Street business is performing in line with expectations, with sales slightly ahead, driven by some favourable publishing in books. It added: “We continue to deliver gross margin improvements and planned cost savings in line with our profit focused strategy.”
WH Smith will announce preliminary results for the year ending 31 August 2015 on 15 October.
