Westfield welcomes 1 million visitors in its opening week
Westfield Stratford City, the new £1.45 billion shopping centre which opened close to the Olympic Park in East London last week,welcomed one million people during its first seven days of trading.
200,000 people visited Westfield Stratford City on its opening day followed by over 150,000 people each weekday after.
The shopping centre reached the 1 million visitor mark quicker than the Westfield London in White City which took 10 days to reach the landmark figure when it opened in 2008.
Featuring 300 outlets offering fashion, food, homewares, health and beauty, Westfield Stratford City is anchored by John Lewis and Mark & Spencer stores.
Commenting on the opening week, Managing Director of Westfield UK/Europe and New Markets Michael Gutman said: “We are overwhelmed by the response from our consumers who have flocked to the newly opened Westfield Stratford City.
