Waitrose promotes Jackie Wharton to director of convenience role
Waitrose has promoted commercial operations director Jackie Wharton to the role of director of convenience.
Wharton replaces Diana Hunter who is leaving the grocer to become chief executive of Bargain Booze.
In her new role, Wharton will be in charge of the Little Waitrose convenience stores, reporting to Waitrose retail director Rob Collins.
Wharton has worked for Waitrose for the past 15 years, taking up the position of commercial operations director in 2008. Prior to Waitrose, she worked for seven years for Sainsbury’s.
Commenting on the promotion Collins said: "Jackie’s wealth of experience in retail and her success in developing our commercial operations functions makes her the perfect person to take on the exciting role of driving our convenience business forward."
Waitrose currently operates 36 convenience stores and plans to add a further ten stores in London during 2013.
