Waitrose pilots evening yoga sessions in its stores
The Waitrose supermarket chain has unveiled plans to hold evening yoga sessions in its stores.
The classes will be run by qualified yoga instructors in two Waitrose shops in Basingstoke and Newbury from 12 February for an initial trial period. From 19 February, there will also be sessions at Waitrose’s Banbury shop.
Moira Howie, nutrition manager at Waitrose, said: “We know that overall wellbeing is increasingly important to our customers. In addition to eating well they can now relax and enjoy the benefits of yoga in selected Waitrose stores while meeting new people.”
Waitrose said the classes will be suitable for all levels, including beginners, and will cost £7 per session or £35 for six sessions. Customers will be able to book the classes online.
The supermarket will review whether it introduces yoga evenings to other Waitrose shops once the trial has finished.
Waitrose is also piloting a personal nutritionist service in its Canary Wharf and Kingston shops that offers customers dietary advice tailored specifically to their individual needs.
