Waitrose continues expansion in Scotland
Waitrose has opened its fourth and largest store in Scotland. The 25,000 sq ft store in Newton Mearns will be followed by a fifth store in Helensburgh which will be the retailers first store outside of Glasgow or Edinburgh.
As well as the usual food ranges, the Newton Mearns store will be the first to offer a range of non-food items such as electrical goods and toys from John Lewis. It will also stock produce from a number of smaller, local suppliers including We Hae Meats, Argyll Smokery, Belhaven Fruit Farm, Thistly Cross Cider and Claire Macdonald Foods.
Mark Price, Waitrose managing director, said: "Waitrose Newton Mearns, together with our plans for a fifth store in Helensburgh, is a further demonstration of our ambitions to make our brand far more accessible to Scottish consumers."
