Trinity Walk reports record Christmas footfall
WakefieldÂ’s Trinity Walk shopping centre has reported that footfall reached record levels over the key Christmas trading period.
In November, footfall was up by 3.57% on the same month in 2013 and in December it surged by 12.9%. This helped the shopping centre to achieve an overall increase of 5.4% in 2014 compared to the previous year.
The Christmas lights switch on Saturday 22 November attracted the biggest crowd yet for an event held at Trinity Walk. Meanwhile late night shopping every Thursday and Black Friday also pulled in shoppers.
Cormac Hamilton, centre manager for Trinity Walk, said: “Trinity Walk has recorded some great statistics over the Christmas period and is having a strong start to the year with many stores reporting highest ever figures. We made a lot of improvements to our Christmas events programme and decorations in 2014, and this obviously paid off. We are already planning an even better campaign for Christmas 2015.”
Over 60% of Trinity Walk retailers reported year-on-year monthly sales growth of over 3%, while The Fragrance Shop enjoyed its best ever trading day on Black Friday.
Daniel Thompson, The Fragrance Shop spokesperson, said: “Footfall remained high throughout the end-of-year period with notable peaks during Black Friday and Christmas Eve with customers selecting luxury fragrances more than ever before. Our Trinity Walk store performed very strongly over the Christmas period, trading 5.84% in the five weeks leading up to Christmas.”
