Toys R Us launches Glasgow pop-up store
The retailer has taken a 9,700 sq ft shop at the Hammerson owned centre which will also see lifestyle brands Ness and Cath Kidston launch pop-up outlets this month.
Mike Coogan, marketing and e-commerce director at Toys R Us, said: “We’ve chosen Silverburn in Scotland; it’s a great centre with a great reputation, serving a really strong catchment.”
Martin Plocica, director for UK shopping centres at Hammerson, added: “Toys R Us is a great global brand, and a very strong addition to our retail offer at Silverburn given the centre’s significant popularity with families. Their decision to open such a large pop-up store highlights the centre’s strong destination appeal. This concept enables retailers to test new store formats, within a strong catchment area and Silverburn has achieved great traction with pop-ups during 2013.”
Silverburn, which secured planning consent for a 200,000 sq ft leisure extension earlier this year, has signed up seven new brands in the last 12 months including a new SuperDry regional flagship.
