Tourists to be offered exclusive London discounts with Visitor Oyster card

The UK’s national tourism agency Visit Britain has teamed up with Transport for London to offer travellers and travel operators purchasing Transport for London’s Visitor Oyster card over 25 exclusive discounts at shops, restaurants and entertainment venues across the capital.

Retailers participating in the discount scheme, which offers money off discounts, 2-for-1 deals and free gifts, include Liberty, Fortnum & Mason, M&M's World and Foyles at Royal Festival Hall.

Visit Britain is Transport for London’s sole management agent for the promotion and distribution of the Visitor Oyster card internationally. The partnership has led to sales of the card increasing by 55% since 2012/13.

Jaco Coetzee, head of retail at Visit Britain, said: “We want to encourage travel operators to include the Visitor Oyster Card in their packages because it improves their customers’ travel experience. This summer, any traveller with a Visitor Oyster card in their pocket will not only be able to move around London cheaply and easily, but also enjoy excellent cultural, retail and food experiences at discounted prices.”

Julie Dixon, head of marketing services at Transport for London, added: “We are always looking for ways to improve customers’ experience of travel in London and these special offers present a brilliant opportunity for customers to get a bit more from their ticket. We’re delighted to be launching these offers in partnership with Visit Britain.”
