The Perfume Shop celebrates 20th anniversary
Perfume retailer The Perfume Shop is celebrating 20 years in the retail beauty market this year with over 240 stores now open across the UK and Ireland.
Founded in 1992, The Perfume Shop first opened its doors at the Bullring in Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Blackpool with only 20 members of staff compared to the 1,950 staff members employed today.
The business has built on its success year on year, launching its website in April, 2000 and opening stores in the Republic of Ireland in 2003. The Perfume Shop was acquired by parent company A.S Watson in 2005 and went on to partner with sister company Superdrug in 2010 with its store-in-store concepts which are now open in 44 stores.
The Perfume Shop has a high staff retention rate with a number of employees working for the business for over 15 years including Tracey Smith, store manager from Blackpool, and Jo Walker, managing director, who have both been part of The Perfume Shop since it began.
In recent years, The Perfume Shop has celebrated its 200th store opening, the launch of its first Reward Club and Love Perfume Awards as well as reaching over 140,000 fans on Facebook this year. The business is still growing and plans to open further stores this year to include Barking, Stevenage and Gretna.
Jo Walker, managing director said: "It feels fantastic to be celebrating 20 years at The Perfume Shop. Both myself and Tracey have been part of The Perfume Shop family since 1992 and it is overwhelming to think what the business has achieved since it opened its doors. We have always prided ourselves on maintaining our core values for outstanding customer service and a great product range and it shows the hard work has paid off.
"This year has been extra special, not only as we celebrate 20 years but also with our 37th place in The Times Top 100 Best Companies To Work For. We look forward to the next 20."
