The Fragrance Shop celebrates strong Christmas sales

The Fragrance Shop grew its like-for-like sales by 5.6% in the six weeks to 31 December after trade was driven by the popularity of gift sets and luxury scents throughout the festive season.

The retailer said some of its best-selling scents included Emporio Armani’s Stronger With You, Miss Dior by Christian Dior and Chanel’s new fragrance, Gabrielle.

During the period, total sales climbed by 14.6% while online sales were up 30%.

The Fragrance Shop sold almost 100,000 bottles of fragrance on 23 December which was its busiest ever trading day.

Sanjay Vadera, chief exceutive of The Fragrance Shop, said: “The feedback we receive shows our customers value our approach that combines competitive prices with tailored advice on choosing the right fragrance, whether as a gift or as a treat for themselves.

“It’s this offer, delivered by our outstanding store teams, that ensures our growth continues to outperform the market.”

Operating 214 stores across the UK, The Fragrance Shop plans to open 20 new stores during 2018.

Vadera added: “We still see significant scope for expanding our UK store portfolio. The wider market is growing and there is strong demand for our unique proposition
