The Entertainer to open store in Woking's Wolsey Place

Toy retailer The Entertainer is to open a 5,213 sq ft store in WokingÂ’s Wolsey Place shopping centre as part of plans to expand across the UK.

Opening on 26 October, the new store will celebrate its grand opening with a series of special events and offers in conjunction with running a trolley dash event with local Woking charity Link Able.

Gary Grant, The Entertainer founder and managing director, said: “After experiencing such solid growth across the UK we are pleased to announce that Wolsey Place will be home to our first Woking store. We felt Woking and the centre itself offered a strong retail position for our store as it attracts large numbers of family shoppers who are demanding more choice on the high street and within shopping centres.“

Tim Buckley of Woking Shopping, the joint venture between Moyallen and Woking Borough Council, added: “We are delighted to welcome The Entertainer to Woking. It is a wonderful brand and its arrival complements our tenant mix strategy of attracting quality brands that will resonate well with our quality catchment. They join Patisserie Valerie, Pret, Paperchase in Wolsey Place and with further announcements expected shortly, see the town rapidly expanding to a higher quality retail offer.”

The news follows the start earlier this month of the public consultation on the 125,000 sq ft development of Victoria Square in Woking. The proposed scheme will comprise of new retail floor space anchored by a 60,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer store, a new Boots, plus a four star hotel with conference facilities, spa and gym, new residential apartments, additional car parking, and two new public plazas.
