The Entertainer expands into the Middle East
Multi-channel toy retailer The Entertainer has opened its first store outside of the UK by launching a toy shop in Dubai.
The opening on 11 December was attended by Her Majesty’s Consul Edward Hobart. The Entertainer co-founders Gary and Catherine Grant were also present accompanied by buying director Stuart Grant and multi-channel director Duncan Grant.
Founded 32 years ago, The Entertainer has over 90 stores across the UK. The Dubai store at the Al Ghurair centre marks the family-run business’s first expansion outside of the UK as it moves into the Middle East in partnership with Dubai based retail group Al Owais Enterprises.
The Entertainer managing director Gary Grant said: "2013 has been an important year for The Entertainer, not only have we opened 14 new stores in the UK, we have expanded the brand internationally. I am thrilled to be in Dubai to officially open The Entertainer Dubai and to also meet all the families who are looking forward to experiencing the joy and wonder of our stores."
Lewis Scott, director for UK Trade & Investment in the South East, added: "The Entertainer exemplifies what exporting is all about. By opening this store in Dubai, they will be able to tap into a huge well of demand not available to their domestic counterparts."
